the LEGACY

Nothing is inherited unchanged.

The moment something is received,
it enters a new context.

A song enters another ear.
A garment enters another body.
An idea enters another mind.
A technology enters another generation.
An object enters another time.

The receiver changes what is received
simply by encountering it from somewhere new.

So perhaps legacy is not preservation.

It is transmission.

receive → inhabit → alter → transmit

What survives does not survive because it remains unchanged.

It survives because something keeps
receiving it.

And this is where I would let SO make its tiny obvious observation at the end:

THE OBVIOUS:
Legacy requires a receiver.
